seriously. you can install a PROPER roll cage and 'drape' (for lack of a better word) the top on it. that way, you have a 'hard top' (roll over? no problem) and the potential for a EPIC sleeper

Actually my dad is wonderful, he's been a great dad my whole life but a lot of people don't have that, be glad you do and enjoy not walking or asking him for a ride. I'm a dad myself so I usually take the dad's side in this type of thing. His heart and intentions were all good, tell him thanks and save up your money for something different in a few years. My first car was a baby blue 86 Toyota Celica notch back with an automatic and 92 horsepower. I could go on for days about all the wonderful things I experienced in that car and because of that car. Even though I wanted a Camaro or Fiero, I was happy as hell to get that Celica and I have so many fond memories of it. Looked just like this GIS image I found,

NEVER! It was actually a ton of fun and quite a few of these cars were done up in a home garage or driveway with a tight budget. If you have a problem with that, then you have a problem with being a car enthusiast. I don't normally care for VW enthusiasts but after trading stories of busted knuckles, late nights in the rain to finish some work, and complete chaos breaking out when trying to do simple work, you begin to appreciate your hobby more.

Maybe these cars aren't your taste, but at least have some respect that they were done up with honest work fueled by 6-packs and elbow grease.
